THE PERFECT HOLIDAY TRAVEL WARDROBE
The holidays are such a fun and busy time of year but traveling can bring some stress. I recommend planning your holiday travel wardrobe ahead to help keep things simple and easy. I confess that I’ve been known to overpack, but this year, I’ve given some thought to packing the perfect holiday travel wardrobe and below are my top tips.
Dress & RepeatThe holiday travel wardrobe begins with your basic layers which you can repeat and build different looks around. A few pairs of pants, jeans, and neutral blouses are a good basic foundation. I tend to gravitate away from dresses, but I love tops because it’s so easy to completely change your look by swapping one top for another. If you’re staying somewhere and don’t yet know the daily itinerary, I would recommend packing outfits that you can dress up or dress down, in addition to one or two dressier outfits.
Cocktail SneakersItems that can double duty and work for different occasions are a god send when traveling. Cocktail Sneakers are made to take you from casual to dressy events, from day to night. Depending on your outfit, you can be sure that you won’t look too under dressed or overdressed in your Cocktail Sneakers! Be sure the check out our top picks for travel here.
Be Neutral or Monochromatic with a PopI love grey, white, and camel. They are fantastic neutrals, and since they go with so many colors, they are a perfect background on which to build your look. I also love to dress in a monochromatic color and have a pop of color that makes a statement. One of my go-to looks is a white silk suit with my Weekenders in red—so chic!
AccessorizeI’m a bit obsessed with earrings, and I confess to having a bit of a scarf habit as well. You can put on a simple outfit with some great earrings and the outfit feels completely different; a beautiful belt or scarf can help to elevate your look even more. Remember, accessories will transform an outfit!
Pops of RedRed is almost a neutral; it goes with so many colors, especially my preferred neutrals, making it my go-to color when I need a little lift. The holidays are a perfect time to bring a bold red into your outfit or your lip color. There is a shade of red for every woman, and you may gravitate to cooler or warmer reds depending on your skin tone. Now, go get your red on!
Nail ItI try to get my manicure scheduled for right before I have to travel as nothing finishes a look more than having well-groomed nails. I prefer to have my manicures done in a neutral color and save the fun colors for my pedicures. I always go for gel as it’s low maintenance, especially when you’re on the move and traveling. If you’re not into gel manicures, it’s important to travel with your preferred polish for touch ups if necessary. I don’t know about you, but chipped and nicked polish gets to me!
I hope these tips help ease your stress when traveling over the holidays. You want to look and feel your best at this time of year, bringing a cheerful holiday spirit to the ones you love.
Warmest wishes for the season!
